Captain’s Day raises over £2,000!

More than 100 golfers took part in a Captain’s charity golf day at West Malling Golf Club in Kent on 2 August to raise funds for the Freddie Farmer Foundation.

112 West Malling Golf Club members supported the 4 Ball Texas Scramble competition, organised by Club Captain Russ Berryman.

Fun additions to the days golf included mulligans for the players and a yellow (Freddie Farmer) ball challenge, the day was made even more special when charity figurehead Freddie Farmer and his family arrived, and everyone received a goody bag containing fruit, water, chocolate, ball markers, raffle tickets, cards, and for the ladies, small bottles of Rose wine.

Russ, who chose to support the Freddie Farmer Foundation during his 2015 Captaincy of the club, said: "The Freddie Farmer Foundation charity is not one of the major charity players so their fundraising is even more difficult and locally-based. Plus, if you met Freddie with his enthusiasm and his loving family, or indeed any of the young children, your heart would probably melt, as mine did."
