Marathon debut success

Lee Knight has completed his first ever marathon smashing his £2000 fundraising target and completing the run in an impressive 3hrs 57mins.

“Despite my nerves I was really looking forward to competing in my first Marathon”, said Lee, who took part in the 26.2 mile Brighton Marathon in one of the country’s most vibrant cities on April 12 to raise funds for Freddie Farmer Foundation in Bromley.

“Being on the start line in Preston Park was a great experience in itself, but once out on the route the feeling was unbelievable. The crowds were amazing and having my name on my Freddie Farmer Foundation t-shirt helped a lot as people who didn’t even know me were calling out my name and spurring me on!

“I drew strength from thinking about the reasons why I was doing the marathon, thinking about inspirational people like Freddie and thinking about my Nan, who would have been so proud of me!

“I enjoyed the whole experience from start to finish, in fact I enjoyed it so much I signed up for next year straight away!

“Crossing the finish line is one of my greatest achievements and proudest moments of my life, and I can’t wait to do it again!”
