It was ‘Freddies’ time again at Shooters Hill Golf Club on February 26 to thank the supporters who ran, walked, swam, made cakes, climbed mountains and jumped out of aeroplanes for the Freddie Farmer Foundation over the last year.
Freddie’s uncle Joe Catchesides told friends and guests:
“We can’t tell you how important all your contributions have been. Every bit that comes in goes to our total and that’s fantastic.”
The “Freddies” – magnificent, engraved ice buckets – went to six outstanding supporters of the foundation:
Mick and Sylvie Mosely, raffle ticket salespeople extraordinaire and ever-present helpers at foundation functions.
Jack Tamber and Joe Parkash and their wives Rajinder and Surjit for their spectacular curry night last year. Jack also raises loads of money at Ford’s, where he works.
Captain Andy Haines, formerly of the Irish Guards, now of the London Scottish regiment and London and TA Boxing Club, for various boxing fund-raisers and regiment events.
Graham Lineker, for various fund-raising activities at Park House Rugby Club, minis, seniors and vets. Graham was also the inspiration behind the ground-breaking dinner at the Houses of Parliament.
Ray Elkins of A&E Elkins Ltd for his sponsorship of the foundation’s golf day trophies. Ray also has a box at Millwall and is constantly raising money for the foundation.
Thanks to “The Freddies” fantastic support, and with the help of family, friends and supporters in the Eltham community including Sainsbury’s, the foundation has raised over £50,000 since it started 12 months ago.
Meanwhile, the London to Paris Bike Ride for Freddie (June, 2-5) is being organised by one of Danny Catchesides’ oldest friends, Dean Keable. More on that to come!
